Highlights
- Nogales is considered the most important border town in the State. It has a population of more than 193,000 people.
- The “maquila” assembly plant is the most important economic activity in the city, because of its location, many U.S. industries use qualified Mexican labor to assembly their products. However, this is changing and other economic branches are growing more than the industrial sector, such as services and commerce. Nogales is diversifying its economy, which is a very good sign for the future.
- Another main activity is the commerce of arts and crafts, where tourists may purchase classic souvenirs or "curios" with a wide variety of crafts shops to choose from.
